The seasons are a'changin

It's OCTOBER! My oh my, where has time gone? We've been a little absent and incredibly busy lately but what better way to get back into blogging than with some fabulous fall talk? Because you all know how much we adore fall, and if you don't, well WE LOVE FALL! It's the perfect season where everything just seems to take on this magical feeling as the bright colors of summer turn into beautiful hues of golden poppy, mustard yellow, and warm chocolate browns.  As the green fades away, with it comes that perfect crisp air in the morning, the chilly breeze in the evening that rustles the leaves about, and those frosty (we kinda wish) nights where the only comforting place is curled up on a couch, a cup of something warm in hand and entertained by a great book or movie. Ahhh nothing is quite like it. We're also looking forward to seeing all the beautiful fall flowers now available at the flower market! Anywho, we'll let you ponder through below what gets us most excited about this time of year!

Over the hills, through the valleys

Buni's little village home covered by a 100+ year old grape vine.

People always say that you really don't need more than 2 weeks in Romania, but maybe they were just visiting the wrong part? I fell in love with the simple life of the "sat." No modern conveniences to clutter your mind, no traffic, no unnecessary stresses of life, just the mere simplicity of the country side. Picking fresh strawberries from the fields, singing worship music by a fire, staying up late hearing terribly funny Romanian jokes, and just living for today was more than I could ask for.

I sported a crazy bun, gym shorts, and Havaianas all day long with no care in the world. My routine consisted of sleeping (unfortunately waking up at 7 a.m. to let the chickens out!), eating, helping around the yard (oh yes I helped pick weeds and watered the garden with buckets!), and relaxing on my grandma's bench, 100 year old grape vine above me and a book in my hands. Now that to me is a vacation.  I spent most of my mornings in the yard, lounging in the sun with a book in my hands. In the morning I would cook a deliciously organic breakfast with fresh eggs from the chickens and fresh veggies from the garden.  I can't even begin to tell you how delicious and flavorful the simplest ingredients were.

I felt like a kid again, reliving a childhood that I wasn't privileged to have. Made me realize how quickly we tend to grow up here in the states. It also gave me a totally different perspective on my parents and how I was raised. It made me understand a lot of things more clearly and in a different light.

Waking up to a heard of cows or sheep outside my window was always an interesting sighting. The best part is the cows know how to go back to their homes!

Same corn machine from my mom's childhood! This takes off the the dried kernels that feed the chickens (and sometimes the dog)

I miss this dog so much! sweetest dog ever, my little baby.

View over a few villages. It was such an amazing hike that led to even more amazing waterfalls!
